I am a 2004 graduate of Lamar High School. I loved growing up in Lamar and being able to teach in my hometown makes my heart full! After High School, I attended Arkansas Tech University where I graduated with a Bachelors degree in Elementary Education in May of 2009.
I first started teaching in my hometown of Lamar in 2015. My first 3 years at Lamar, I taught Kindergarten and while I loved being with the Kinder-babes, the opprotunity came for me to move grade levels. This year I will be teaching 2nd Grade and I am so extremely excited! Many of my upcoming students were my former Kindergarten babies and I can’t wait to spend another year with them!
After graduating Arkansas Tech in May 2009, I began working at Friendship Community Care in Russellville for 3 months then moved to the Siloam Spring location to work there. I worked in the Special Education Area for 3 years and loved the experience that I gained from working with the children in Northwest Arkansas. In the Fall of 2012, I was hired as a Kindergarten Co-Teacher at a private school in Fayetteville called The New School. This STEAM school (STEAM means Science and Technology interpreted through Engineering and the Arts, all based in Mathematical elements) was a wonderful experience for me and taught me even more about children and their natural ways of learning in their environment. In the Fall of 2013, I began my very first public school job at Mabelvale Elementary in Little Rock teaching Kindergarten. For two years I taught and loved on the children of Southwest Little Rock but realized I was ready to come home to start a family. In the Fall of 2015, I started working at my hometown school of Lamar teaching Kindergarten. I taught Kindergarten for 3 years and loved getting to be with those Kinder-babies. I loved all 3 of those years teaching Kindergarten but I am so excited about my new adventures in 2nd Grade!
My husband and I have been married for 3 years and we have a beautiful daughter who is the light of our world! She attends Pre-School in Russellville and is so excited to be a big girl and go to “big girl school”. We have a little Pomeranian, named Rizzo, after the current Chicago Cubs 1st baseman, Anthony Rizzo.
My husband and I love to be outdoors! We enjoy going camping, hiking, and trout fishing. We love to spend time with our daughter and doing many activities with her. When I am not teaching I enjoy reading, watching and playing sports. My favorite teams that I follow are the Arkansas Razorbacks Football, Basketball and Baseball, Chicago Cubs Baseball and Duke Men’s Basketball!
